Discover your ancestry on a luxury genealogy cruise around the British Isles

Delve into your family history during an ancestry journey like no other on a luxurious seacation where two genealogy experts help trace your roots onboard and ashore.

By Samantha Priestley

Cruising The British Isles offers a different perspective on this island we call home. You’ll see trugged cliffs, headlands, sandy – and pebble – beaches with clusters of colourful seabirds and the many mini islands that are scattered in the sea.

But this cruise gives you new discoveries two-fold. While you’re appreciating the British Isles like you’ve never seen it before, you can also delve deeper into your own ancestry.

Onboard with you are your two experts from AncestryProGenealogists Kyle Betit and Celia Heritage, who will give talks and presentations on how tracing your ancestry works. They’ll advise on tracing your family tree while going ashore and exploring some of the places in the UK that might reveal secrets of your past. Book a private session with one of the genealogy experts and find out which parts of the UK are home to you.

So while you sail on board the luxurious Seven Seas Voyager – and enjoy everything it has to offer from fine dining and unlimited wines and spirits, to spa experiences and designer boutiques – your experts in ancestry will be working away behind the scenes to discover more about your bloodline. Every day the experts present a reveal for selected individuals.

Departing from Belfast, snuggled into the rugged coast of Northern Ireland, visitors can see where TV hit Game of Thrones was filmed, marvel at the Grand Opera House, shop in the trendy boutiques or visit one of the pubs lining The Golden Mile.

From there it’s off to Holyhead, on the far side of Anglesey with the mountains in the distance, and the rural beauty and charm of North Wales waiting to be experienced. Liverpool is the next stop, home to the Beatles, and a UNESCO World Heritage site waterfront.

See the places that shaped the Fab Four, including Mathew Street where John, Paul, George and Ringo performed at the Cavern Club before they became world-famous. Visit the Beatles Story, an immersive exhibition housing memorabilia and photographs, and take a tour down Penny Lane and past Strawberry Field, an orphanage where John attended garden parties as a child.

‘Back on board, dip into the ancestry experts’ talks while soaking in the sumptuous atmosphere of this luxury liner’

Take in the stunning views as you sail the shores of Scotland and round the windswept northern isles before reaching Edinburgh. With its Royal Mile, World Heritage Site of Old Town, and the Place of Holyrood House, Scotland’s 15th century Royal Palace and official Scottish residence of the King, this is a capital city bursting with heritage and culture.

Back on board, dip in and out of the experts’ talks while soaking in the sumptuous atmosphere of this luxury liner.

During workshops you do attend, you’ll be guided through how to continue your ancestry journey once your trip is (sadly) over. That way, you’ll take away expert knowledge and a better understanding of who you are and where you come from.
