The Ponte de Dom Luís I is a double-decker bridge spanning the River Douro and has become an iconic symbol of the city of Porto. It was designed by a German student of Gustave Eiffel (of Tower fame). The upper span of the bridge carries Line D of the Porto metro and a pedestrian walkway, while the lower deck is for road traffic and pedestrians. Excellent views can be enjoyed from here.
