Explora Journeys unveils Alaska sailings for the first time

Explora Journeys Alaska cruises will debut in 2027 as part of a newly announced summer cruise collection spanning the Med, Europe and beyond.

Luxury line Explora Journeys has announced a major first for its upcoming summer 2027 season – the brand will debut sailings in Alaska, marking a new era of ultra-elegant adventure cruising for MSC Group’s upscale ocean travel brand.

Launching under the theme An Ocean of New, the 2027 collection sees four ships – Explora I through IV – sail to a mix of familiar favourites and maiden ports from March through November. Most notable is Explora III’s inaugural Alaska deployment, offering immersive journeys round-trip from Vancouver and giving guests the chance to see the region’s staggering scenery in Explora’s signature slow-travel style.

From the blue ice of Hubbard Glacier to remote inlets and Indigenous heritage sites, Alaska promises to be a natural match for Explora’s destination-led, experience-focused ethos.

Explora Journeys Mediterranean cruises

Meanwhile, over in Europe, Explora I and II will spend the season exploring the Mediterranean, with more than 60 sailings on offer across the eastern and western Med and a focus on lesser-travelled ports.

In the Adriatic, highlights include Croatia’s Trogir, a medieval town with a waterfront promenade, and Koper, Slovenia, a pastel-hued gem with strong Venetian roots. Other new ports include Olbia in Sardinia, known for its gorgeous beaches and archaeological treasures, and Algiers, where guests can get lost in the labyrinthine streets of the historic Casbah.

Classic Med favourites like Rome, Amalfi, Barcelona, Athens and Istanbul also feature, with itineraries designed to maximise time ashore and encourage cultural discovery at a gentler pace.

Expect boutique-style exploration with plenty of local flavour, whether it’s sipping ouzo in a seaside taverna or touring Ottoman palaces at sunset. Longer stays and overnights will be a key part of the experience, giving travellers the chance to see these places beyond the tourist rush.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM EXPLORA IV

Explora IV will also make her debut in 2027, sailing Western and Northern Europe, Iceland, Greenland and the East Coast of the US and Canada. The LNG-powered ship will offer redesigned public spaces, even more outdoor areas and one of the highest space-to-guest ratios in luxury cruising.
