Whether you’ve made the booking or are in planning mode, we’ve laid out everything you need to know about Celebrity Cruises’ tipping policy, so you can sit back and relax knowing that there are no surprise charges at the end of your sailing.

Are tips included on Celebrity Cruises?

No, standard tips are not automatically included on Celebrity Cruises unless you opt in when booking your cruise. Once you’ve reached the preferences page during booking, Celebrity now gives you the option to upgrade to “All Included,” which adds drinks and Wi-Fi to your package for approximately £450 per person for a seven-night sailing. However, despite being labelled as “All Included,” this add-on does not include tips.

To opt in to pre-pay tips, you can add this as an additional option to your booking, shown on the website as “Pay Gratuities before your cruise”. Based on a seven-night sailing, this is approximately £192 per room.

Are you expected to tip on Celebrity Cruises?

In short, yes, you are expected to tip on Celebrity Cruises. If you choose not to prepay gratuities at the time of booking, Celebrity Cruises automatically adds a daily service charge or “tip” to your account. This is applicable for both its ocean sailings and newly launched river itineraries.

The daily amount varies by cabin category, starting at $18 (£13.67) per guest and rising to $23 (£17.47) for suite guests.

Can tips be removed on Celebrity Cruises?

Yes, tips can be modified once onboard the ship. You can visit the Guest Relations desk onboard at any time before the morning of disembarkation to request the removal of gratuities from your account.

Whilst you can opt out of the automatic gratuities, we’d still recommend leaving a tip for your servers, waiters and stateroom attendants, especially for the crew that go that extra mile to make your cruising experience one to remember. Tip amounts can be left completely to your discretion and can be given directly to your favourite members of the crew as a personal thank you.

How much is the daily gratuity on Celebrity Cruises?

A daily gratuity will be added based on your stateroom category and applies to both ocean and river sailings.

Guests staying in Inside, Oceanview, and Veranda staterooms on ocean sailings and River View on river sailings will be charged $18.00 (£13.67) per guest, per day.

Those sailing ocean in categories Concierge and AquaClass or Balcony for river will incur a charge of $19.00 (£14.43) per guest, per day, whilst guests in The Retreat staterooms on ocean itineraries and Suites on river sailings will be charged $23.00 (£17.47) per guest, per day.

These daily tips are the same charge for adults and children, and are payable at the end of your cruise. If you are particularly delighted with your service or a particular member of staff, you are free to tip beyond the standard charge.

Tipping on Celebrity Cruises at spas, bars and restaurants

Alongside the daily gratuity, a 20 percent tip will be automatically added to all pre-cruise and onboard purchases of spa and salon services, beverages and beverage packages, speciality dining and speciality dining packages, room service and mini bar purchases.

Can’t imagine going on holiday without your favourite vino? Celebrity has got you covered! You can bring one 750ml bottle of wine per guest with you on your sailing. When consumed in a restaurant, bar or dining venue, each bottle shall be subject to a corkage fee of $25 (£18.99) or completely free if enjoyed in the comfort of your cabin. For cruisers who have a Classic or Premium Beverage Package, the corkage fee does not apply!

What happens if I don’t tip on Celebrity Cruises?

On Celebrity Cruises, the crew are known for their exceptional attention to detail, warm hospitality and genuine desire to make every moment of your holiday special. Tipping is a simple way to show appreciation for their hard work, much of which happens quietly behind the scenes.

Tips collected are distributed to crew members, including dining, bar and culinary services staff, stateroom attendants, hotel services teams, as well as others onboard who work to enhance the overall cruise experience.

That said, if you’re unhappy with the service you’ve received, you are free to adjust or remove your gratuities at any time by visiting Guest Relations. While nothing punitive happens if you choose not to tip, it’s worth remembering that these tips directly support the crew who work hard to make your sailing a memorable one.
