Celebrity Cruises Concierge Class comes with plenty of perks. But is it really worth it?
Celebrity Cruises Concierge Class comes with plenty of perks. But is it really worth it?
When you’re booking a cabin or stateroom, it usually seems pretty straightforward – right? Choose the one that fits your budget or you think looks pretty, and Bob’s your uncle!
This is not, however, the case with Celebrity Cruises as there are a number of stateroom ‘Classes’, each of which comes with a series of exclusive benefits. The most popular and longstanding of these is Celebrity Cruises’ Concierge Class. Perks such as private embarkation day lunches, daily deliveries of canapes, and a dedicated concierge service at your beck and call are all included. Of course, such VIP treatment comes with a VIP price tag, and so you’re probably wondering: is it worth it? Let’s take a look.
Concierge Class is available on Edge Series, Solstice Class and Millennium Class Celebrity ships. Celebrity’s Concierge Class is intended to deliver a personalised experience all the way from booking to debarkation, featuring exclusive services, amenities and special events where little details are sure to make guests feel extra special.
First off, the rooms. Concierge Class staterooms are a great option if a suite or mini-suite seems a little too boujee for your trip, but you want to upgrade from an oceanview or inside cabin. You’ll get a beautifully furnished room complete with a veranda, spacious bed and living area. Concierge staterooms also come with special amenities including premium bathroom products, a velour bathrobe, complimentary tote bag and, perhaps fanciest of all, a pillow menu! Choose from a hypoallergenic pillow, a body pillow and a Swedish isotonic pillow to elevate your sea slumbers.
Another key aspect of the Concierge Class experience is the dedicated concierge. Just steps away from the staterooms, they’ll assist with all of your holiday needs. (Maybe a wake-up call after sleeping on a body pillow?)
The concierge will help with everything from making spa and restaurant reservations to booking shore excursions. Not only will they just book the shore excursion for you, they’ll also reserve any activities or entertainment you’d like to take part in ashore, so that queuing for tickets will be but a distant dream.
Concierge Class guests gain access to a whole host of events and experiences that aren’t available to regular cruise guests.
One of the most coveted of these events is the Welcome Aboard Lunch, which takes place on embarkation day and is a great way to get to know your peer Concierge Classers. Sashay up the ship’s ramp, glide past the gaggles of people headed for the main dining room or buffet, and instead enjoy an exclusive feast put on for Concierge Class guests. Think creamy Caesar salads, braised short ribs, dulce de leche and free-flowing wine.
And if the wine at lunch didn’t feel like quite enough to kick start your holiday, the welcome bottle of sparkling wine available to all Concierge guests should do. Top tip: this perk is only available on request – so do remember to ask for it. Ask and you shall receive!
Celebrity Cruises Concierge Class guests also benefit from priority dining bookings, ensuring you’re able to fit in all you want to see and do – whether that’s a late reservation so you can relax with a pre-dinner spa treatment, or eating early doors so you can nab the best seats for the evening’s entertainment.
Exclusive destination seminars help get the most out of each port of call, where top tips on discovering the hot spots, hidden spots and top attractions in every port mean you’ll be ready to hit the ground running as soon as you step off the ship, and keep faffing with guide books to a minimum!
At the end of your Celebrity cruise, Concierge guests are invited to an exclusive pre-departure lounge where you can relax in splendour and guarantee a stress-free departure.
There are! These include:
Of course, pricing is dependent on the length of your cruise and where it’s travelling. However, for a seven-night cruise, the cost is, on average, around £400pp more than the entry-level rate. For example, a week-long sailing in the Caribbean starts at £750pp, while Concierge Class would cost £1,180pp.
This can vary – sometimes less, sometimes more, but on average it is usually at least an additional few hundred pounds.
In a battle between Celebrity Concierge Class vs. AquaClass, who comes out on top?
AquaClass is another one of Celebrity Cruises’ popular stateroom offerings, and is a great option for anyone looking for a zen-filled wellness getaway. The price point is a little higher (for the same seven-night Caribbean cruise previously mentioned, AquaClass would cost £1,500) and the focus is very much on mind, body and soul.
AquaClass staterooms are intended to set the wellness scene from the off with serene hues, floor-to-ceiling ocean views and soft fabrics that include cashmere bedding. A dedicated spa concierge provides priority spa reservations and personal consultations, complimentary fitness classes, and in-room yoga mats. Ommmm.
You’ll also receive unlimited access to the SEA Thermal Suite: a veritable wellness playground, equipped with eight distinct spaces to relax in before and after spa treatments.
Complimentary dining at clean cuisine restaurant, Blu, is another major draw for AquaClass guests. Exclusively for AquaClass, menus feature fresh, crisp flavours with an extensive list of sustainable wines.
You’ll also receive:
So if the jury’s still out on which to pick – if it’s deep relaxation and a wellness reboot you’re after, go for the AquaClass option. If you’re just looking for a little bit of luxury and an all-round good time without going full Gwenyth Paltrow, then Concierge Class is probably your best bet. You can still access the spa whenever you like, you’ll just have to book a spa pass which can be arranged by the concierge at a small cost.
Hello 👋 I am the newest addition to the Sailawaze writing team. I've always loved travel since as far back as I can remember and am lucky enough to have travelled to some pretty extraordinary places! As a massive animal lover, I think safaris are among my favourite travel memories – there's just nothing like being up close to a beautiful creature like a leopard or elephant! Cruising opens up so many doors when it comes to exploring destinations, as you can visit numerous places in one go, and reach areas you wouldn't be able to by plane or train! I would really like to take a Mediterranean cruise around the little Greek islands and get stuck in with all of the cuisine and culture there.
