Disney Cruise Line has revealed a thrilling insight into new cruise ship Disney Destiny, due to set sail next year, as a major event was celebrated.
Disney Cruise Line has unveiled exciting details about its upcoming cruise ship, Disney Destiny. A keel laying ceremony took place this week at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany marking a significant milestone in the vessel’s construction journey.
Following in the footsteps of its sister cruise ships, Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, the design of Disney Destiny centres around the theme of “Heroes and Villains,” drawing inspiration from the timeless narratives, characters and attractions synonymous with Disney.
The collaborative efforts of Disney Cruise Line and Walt Disney Imagineering were fuelled by the great Disney stories and the interplay between light and dark inherent in every classic Disney tale, shaping the essence of the new ship.
Throughout the floating resort, guests will encounter heroes and villains – including those drawn from beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios classics such as “The Lion King,” “Hercules,” and “One Hundred and One Dalmatians” – within the onboard spaces, experiences and entertainment.
In a nod to tradition, Disney has unveiled captivating filigree artwork adorning the bow of Disney Destiny, depicting Minnie Mouse in a resolute stance, draped in heroic attire, her cape billowing triumphantly in the sea breeze as she leads guests toward their holiday destinies.
Disney Destiny is scheduled for delivery in 2025.
The ship is a pivotal component of Disney Cruise Line’s multi-year expansion initiative, joining the ranks of the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, alongside the Disney Adventure – which will find its homeport in Singapore, – and the eagerly anticipated new island destination in The Bahamas, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Cruise Line, commented: “The Disney Destiny will celebrate our most legendary Disney stories and characters, bringing them to life in new and exciting ways exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests.”
“As we continue to expand our fleet, the Disney Destiny will further strengthen our position as a leader in family cruising as we offer even more ways for families to experience Disney magic and world-class service at sea.”
