Viking announces new river cruise ship to sail in 2025

Viking cruise line has revealed news of its expansion in Southeast Asia with the upcoming new cruise ship Viking Tonle, set to join its fleet navigating the Mekong River.

What do we know about Viking Tonle?

Scheduled for debut in October 2025, this 80-guest vessel mirrors the Viking Saigon, enriching the 15-day Magnificent Mekong journey from Kampong Cham, Cambodia to Mỹ Tho, Vietnam.

In response to high demand, Viking has extended its sailing dates for 2025 and opened bookings for the entire 2026 season.

What’s onboard Viking Tonle?

Crafted specifically for the Mekong’s waters, Viking Tonle accommodates 80 guests across 40 outside staterooms, featuring the hallmark Scandinavian design.

Guests can relish hotel-style comforts, floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors leading to Verandas or French Balconies, and amenities such as the spa and fitness centre, pool, and open-air Sky Bar across its three decks.

What itinerary will Viking Tonle offer?

The Magnificent Mekong itinerary spans 15 days and encompasses 16 guided tours, blending cultural immersion in Vietnam and Cambodia.

It includes stays in Hanoi, Siem Reap, and Ho Chi Minh City, bookending an eight-day Mekong River voyage.

Travellers can delve into local experiences like exploring Hanoi’s Old Quarter, savouring fresh culinary delights, visiting UNESCO heritage sites like Angkor Wat, witnessing the jungle-clad ruins of Ta Prohm, and touring Phnom Penh by cyclo rickshaw. The river voyage portion unveils silk towns, fishing villages, monasteries and floating markets.
