Fancy going up in the world? You can in Miami, where there’s just as much fun to be found skywards, as there is back down on terra firma.
This vibrant US city is renowned for its exciting nightlife, and those in the know tend to hang out in the coolest spots with the best views of the city and ocean.
And let’s face it, who doesn’t love a breezy elevated bar when the mercury is rising and the sunsets are as hot as the crowd?
From luxury bars to more chilled lounges, here at Sailawaze we’ve rounded up some of the best sky high bars to suit your mood and budget…
We’ll kick off with a cracker – Serena Rooftop at the Moxy Miami South Beach is a riot of tropical colour with more than a nod to that quintessential Latin flavour that defines the beating heart of the city. As well as amazing cocktails curated by a renowned mixologist, there’s authentic and healthy Latin and Mexican food, so grab a table on the patio and drink in the cool vibe.
If Mediterranean nights are more your thing, you’ll love Astra, an expansive rooftop restaurant and sky garden located in Wynwood which serves up Greek-inspired cuisine and crafted cocktails inspired by the region. You’ll want to grab one of the overstuffed sofas in good time for sunset, and stick around until later when international DJs hit the decks and live bands take to the stage.
For something more relaxing with a foodie air, head to The Rooftop at The Citadel, which offers artisan bites and cocktails from Miami’s most innovative kitchens. With views of the treetops and downtown, there’s plenty of space and parasols for when the sun’s still blazing. Visit for brunch on Saturday and Sunday and take advantage of the $60 Champagne Showers deal for bottomless Pommery Champagne over two hours.
If you’re looking to push the boat out or impress someone, we recommend Mila for a high-end yet boho chic vibe and flavourful MediterrAsian food. Situated above Lincoln Road in buzzy South Beach, this glamorous bar features an ethnic soundtrack, fire artists, a global bar menu and sharing dishes that transport you through Japan and the Mediterranean – highlights include premium wagyu, diver scallops and spiced wagyu gyoza.
Another impressive rooftop hangout in this Florida city boasting an oceanfront location is Watr at the 1 Rooftop, which is situated 18 floors up for unbeatable sea views. As well as drinks ranging from draft beers to frozen drinks and, of course, cocktails, you can feast on Peruvian-influenced Japanese food in stylish surroundings. And if you’re in the mood to party all night long, head there when the sun goes down for live DJs and a fashionable crowd.
