What happens on a 50+ cruise line?

Ambassador Cruise Line is the latest adults-only cruise company to launch, with first ship Ambience taking to the high seas back in April 2022 and second ship Ambition launching in 2023.

Cruises with the British brand operate for guests over 18 (and predominantly the 50-plus market) with the exception of several Ambassador multigenerational cruises a year.

So, what can one get up to on an adults-only cruise ship? We’ve rounded up the many activities cruise passengers can enjoy during their time on an Ambassador cruise.

Get physical

Feel your heart racing and endorphin levels rise at the fitness classes included in your Ambassador fare – or hit the gym if you’d rather do your own thing.

Get crafty

Prepare to wow loved ones back home with some artistic skills as arts and crafts experts teach you a new talent, whether it be bead jewellery, painting and mosaic decoration or calligraphy and decorative card art. (Or, if you were anything like us at school, attempt, get annoyed, fail and give up, but hopefully you have more stamina).

Get coupled up

Grab yourself a partner and take part in Ambassador’s dance classes on the line’s adults-only cruises. The onboard entertainment team, Ambassador Theatre Company, offers Dance Dance Dance which was choreographed by Strictly Come Dancings’s Anton Du Beke! Passengers will be taken on a world tour of the best of dance throughout the decades with guest virtual appearances from the ballroom pro and presenter himself.

Get tickled pink

Holidays are always best when filled with laughter and the good news is that’s easily achievable onboard Ambience and Ambition. Guest comedians join Ambassador cruises so you can enjoy a variety of chuckle-filled comedy nights.

Get treated

Give yourself over to an indulgent pampering session and hit the spa for a massage or beauty treatment in the hands of wellness specialists. Top tip – visit the spa during ports of call as it will be less busy and there might be good offers to snap up!

Get soaked

Jump into the Lido Deck hot tubs for some TLC. Let your stresses soak away as you relax surrounded by soothing bubbles or take a dip in the swimming pool. Yes, you can try a handstand if you want.

Get wordy

Join literature lovers at the Ambassador book club; novels are chosen in advance so you can buy them ahead of sailing and have previously included such gems as The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman and The Midnight Library by Matt Haig among others. Guests will be able to share their thoughts on the books in an informal setting – a great way to make friends if you’re travelling solo.

Get together with the captain

A Captain’s Welcome & Farewell cocktail party, a Captain’s Gala Dinner and a Baked Alaska Parade (which sees waiters parading the flaming dessert to much pomp and ceremony) are included on all cruises of six nights or more. We do love a man in uniform…

Get entertained

A wide range of entertainment is offered onboard Ambience, from evening shows, plays and cabarets to live music and classical interludes. What’s more, the cruise ship is home to a large tiered theatre so you’ll always get a good view of the acts.

A series of guest speakers will discuss all manner of fascinating subjects at talks onboard, with passengers able to get involved and ask questions.
