P&O Cruises’ adults-only ships to undergo multi-million-pound investment

P&O Cruises recently announced a multi-million-pound investment would be upgrading the line’s two adult-only cruise ships, Arcadia and Aurora – here’s what to expect.

P&O Cruises’ adults-only cruise ships Arcadia and Aurora will undergo an exciting make-over in the coming years.

From nips to tucks and then some, the two loved vessels – available to book via travel agent Bolsover Cruise Club –  will be well and truly rejuvenated thanks to the significant injections.

The overhaul follows an initial series of facelifts in May this year. The duo were treated to new cabin chairs and balcony furniture plus updated furniture on open deck areas.

On Arcadia, the Neptune Pool has been lavished with new lounge chairs, sofas, tables and armchairs.

However, the biggest treatments of all are diarised for November 2024 for Arcadia cruise ship and April 2025 for Aurora. The pampering follows Arcadia’s world cruise – she’ll in be need of some serious R&R after all that globetrotting!

P&O Cruises president, Paul Ludlow, previously said of the upgrades: “Arcadia and Aurora are two of our most beloved ships in the fleet offering guests a more intimate experience in stylish surroundings.

“After a busy season hosting guests on longer duration itineraries and world cruises, we will be making sure that both ships look their absolute finest ahead of the summer season.”

While the fine details of what the overhauls to the pretty pair will comprise have yet to be revealed, let’s have a look at what’s currently onboard Arcadia and Aurora.

Arcadia

Arcadia cruise ship is home to five restaurants (including authentic speciality Indian restaurant Sindhu and, exclusively, Marco Pierre White’s Ocean Grill) as well as 10 bars and cafés.

As for wellness inside Arcadia, there’s a vast spa and salon, five whirlpool spas and two swimming pools. No going bored when dry either – Arcadia boasts a three-tier cinema, a casino, an art gallery, a boutique cinema, a library and sports courts.

Destinations include: Northern Europe, Scandinavia, the British Isles, Norway, Iceland, Spain, Portugal, the Canary Islands, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, North America and Canada.

Aurora

Aurora cruise ship meanwhile features seven restaurants (including Sindu as well as The Beach House) and 11 cafés and bars. Standout watering holes are The Glass House where you can sip on hand-picked wine from award-winning expert Olly Smith and The Crow’s Nest bar where guests can soak up both views and cocktails in style.

The adults-only P&O Cruises ship has a spa and salon, gym, fitness classes and three swimming pools as well as a casino, sports court, shops and a show lounge.

In the latter holidaymakers can enjoy cabaret performances, live music, quiz shows, tribute acts and more while further entertainment can be found at the Curzon Theatre or the Playhouse Cinema.

Aurora cruise ship sails from Southampton, Auckland, Brisbane, Dubai, Hong Kong, San Francisco, Singapore and Sydney.

P&O Cruises destinations include: Northern Europe, Scandinavia, Norway, Iceland, Spain, Portugal, the Canary Islands, the Mediterranean, North America and Canada.

P&O Cruises deals

In further P&O Cruises news, the line revealed WaveLength, an interactive gameshow virtually starring presenter and game show host Ben Shephard is now available on both Arcadia and Aurora.

The game provides guests with the opportunity to find out how well they know each other as they try to match their partner’s answers. The show will then be rolled out across the rest of the fleet in time for the summer season.

WaveLength will join a long line up of world-class entertainment available on board
Aurora in its magnificent Curzon Theatre and in Arcadia’s impressive three-tier
theatre, The Palladium.

Furthermore, earlier this month P&O Cruises unveiled double onboard spending money of up to £640 per sea view cabin.

You’ll have to act quickly though – the P&O Cruises deal applies to holidays to the Mediterranean when booked by July 31, 2023.

It’s also only available on applicable new Select Price 13 and 14-night Mediterranean
holidays on Arvia (the line’s newest ship) and Britannia during spring and summer 2024-2025 sailings from Southampton.

The extra onboard spending money can be used against a variety of experiences including dining in speciality restaurants, spa treatments or shore excursions.

It’s not the only P&O Cruises offer going, though! You can also bag extra onboard spending money and a 10 percent deposit offer across other ships in the fleet – and you’ll have until September 4, 2023, to book.

The offer is available on selected holidays departing between June 9, 2023, and October 26, 2025.

Holidays booked by this date can also be secured with a 10 percent deposit on select Select Price or Early Saver holidays departing in the same period and is applicable to the first two guests in a cabin.
