Celebrity Cruises reveals name of brand new cruise ship for 2025

Celebrity Cruises has unveiled the name of its upcoming ship, the fifth addition to the acclaimed Edge Series — Celebrity Xcel.

Promising to surpass the already sought-after experiences of its sister ships, this vessel is set to redefine premium holidays with unprecedented innovations.

The announcement took place at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France this week. Executives from Royal Caribbean Group and the shipyard marked the occasion by cutting the inaugural piece of steel for Celebrity Xcel.

President Laura Hodges Bethge expressed her excitement, stating, “The Edge Series has shattered preconceived notions of cruising, and I am thrilled to announce our next bold step as a brand with Celebrity Xcel.”

She added that the new ship would excel beyond its predecessors, introducing entirely new experiences that will revolutionise the cruise industry.

Where will Celebrity Xcel cruise?

Scheduled to debut in November 2025 in the Caribbean, Celebrity Xcel will embark on its inaugural winter season from Fort Lauderdale.

The 7-night itineraries will alternate between the Bahamas, Mexico, the Cayman Islands, Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten. Bookings for these Celebrity Cruises voyages are now open.

What’s onboard Celebrity Xcel?

Similar to the highly anticipated Celebrity Ascent, which debuts this month, Celebrity Xcel aims to immerse guests in the surrounding world like never before.

The ship boasts distinctive features, including The Retreat, a resort-within-a-resort area for suite guests with a two-story sundeck, modern accommodations ranging from two-story villas to staterooms with infinite verandas, and an expanded Rooftop Garden and Resort Deck with unique cantilevered float pools.

Other highlights include a multi-level Sunset Bar, a Daniel Boulud fine-dining restaurant at sea, live entertainment, a redesigned Grand Plaza spanning three decks, and the return of the Magic Carpet — an engineering marvel providing uninterrupted vistas above the sea for guests enjoying cocktails or dinner.
