Polar Routes Antarctica cruise holidays have been taken up a notch as new voyage Ultimate Antarctic Expedition promises to explore the very best of the region.
Polar Routes, a specialist in British polar expeditions, is offering travellers the chance to board an exclusive journey to delve deeper into Antarctica.
The chartered cruise, Ultimate Antarctic Expedition, will take place aboard the newly refurbished ship MV Polar Pioneer. designed for just 53 passengers – nearly half the size of comparable ships.
Its diminutive size means this expedition reaches areas inaccessible to larger vessels, granting an unparalleled Antarctic encounter.
Embark on a 23-day odyssey from January 21 to February 12, 2025, exploring the wonders of Antarctica, including the remote Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia, and the Falkland Islands.
Admire whales, penguins, elephant seals and albatross while retracing the steps of explorer Ernest Shackleton to Elephant Island in the South Shetland Islands.
The MV Polar Pioneer boasts an impressive ice class of 1A Super, signifying exceptional navigational capabilities across diverse environments, including sea ice zones.
Featuring generous deck space and an open bridge policy, finding an ideal vantage point to behold the breathtaking scenery and wildlife is easy, avoiding any crowding.
Additionally, the ship offers a range of excellent amenities, ensuring a cosy and welcoming ambience throughout your stay.
Guiding this adventure is Dr Huw Lewis-Jones, a charismatic broadcaster, environmental historian and acclaimed author, well-versed in polar exploration. Equipped with five zodiacs, each expedition day offers two extensive off-ship excursions, weather permitting.
Dr Huw Lewis-Jones [below] commented on the upcoming voyage: “Every trip to Antarctica is an unbelievable privilege.

“Whether it is to get up close with penguins, marvel at sublime landscapes, or learn more fascinating polar history, this is a journey like no other.
“The joy with this particular trip is the small ship size and being out in ice and wilderness is what makes my heart sing. Unforgettable experiences await you.”
