Dominican Daze sails to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic and Virgin’s very own private Bahamian destination, the Beach Club at Bimini.

Puerto Plata, which translates to Port of Silver, boasts verdant mountains, thundering waterfalls and pristine beaches, while the town brims with colonial homes, Victorian architecture and a 16th-century Spanish fortress, Fortaleza San Felipe.

It’s also home to the teleférico [above, left], the only cable car in the Caribbean, on which you’ll ascend 800 meters above sea level on a 10-minute ride to the top of the beautiful Loma Isabel de Torres Mountain. Excursions in Puerto Plata include off-roading in a buggy to the Waterfalls of Damajagua, rum-tasting tours and snorkelling.
