The Alhambra is a fortified palace just outside Granada set against the brooding Sierra Nevada mountains. In its current form, The Alhambra largely dates to the 13th and 14th centuries and is a love letter to Moorish culture – expect beautiful rectangular courtyards and numerous fountains; the courtyard of the Lions with its fountains is one of the most beautiful. Other highlights are La Vela tower, which offers one of the best views of the Alhambra, and the Alcazaba citadel, the oldest building.
