The Agora of Athen is an archaeological site beneath the northwest slope of the Acropolis complete with ruins and greenery. It was the heart of ancient Athens, the focus of political, commercial, administrative and social activity, where great thinkers such as Sophocles, Socrates and Protagoras would meet as well as a religious and cultural centre. Among the most important monuments is the temple of Hephaestus (the best-preserved ancient temple in Greece ) and the Stoa of Attalus.
