The Palace of Versailles, just outside Paris has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site for more than 30 years. Originally the former hunting lodge of Louis XIII, the residence was transformed and extended by his son Louis XIV who installed the Court and the government of France in 1682 at Versailles. The Hall of Mirrors, the King’s Grand Apartments and the gardens are among the made jaw-dropping sights at this ostentatious palace.
