Sacré-Cœur Basilica, at the top of the Butte Montmartre in Paris, was consecrated in 1919. Its architectural style is romano-byzantine and was inspired by churches such as Saint Sofia in Constantinople and San Marco in Venice. The ceiling inside the magnificent white domed building is decorated with the largest mosaic in France and the crypt is also worth a visit. Its high position (the second highest point in the city) means visitors are treated to amazing views across Paris. The church welcomes more than 10 million visitors per year.
